Mrs. Saxby’s primary job is working with children with special needs in the third and fourth grade within their general education setting. She enjoys watching her students grow as learners and believes that they can do anything they set their minds to. Many of her students struggle with learning how to read and in the past 4 years, she has been working with small groups of students to become more accurate, fluent, and efficient readers. “Reading is a very powerful skill to have and if they learn to read, wonderful experiences are bond to come their way!” says Mrs. Saxby.

In addition to working with children with special needs, she works with students in need of academic support in the area of mathematics in third and fourth grade. She enjoys mathematics and loves to share this joy with the students she comes in contact with. “Mathematics allows you to think outside the ‘box’ and you can come up with several ways to answer a single math problem,” says Mrs. Saxby.

Her favorite time of day is greeting all the students as they enter the building. She loves being the first to greet them and possibly giving them their first hug of the morning! Mrs. Saxby’s goal is for every child to feel loved and to see school as a positive, protective environment to grow and learn without judgments!
