Students eating lunch

The Hancock Central School District participates in the National School Lunch Program. A complete lunch may be purchased in the school cafeteria by students grades K-4 for $2.30 and in grades 5-12 for $2.55. Breakfast is $1.50 for students in grades PK-12.

Students may charge any combination of breakfast or lunch. No snacks or a la carte items may be charged at any time. Students are required to take a fruit or juice at breakfast. Students also are required to take a fruit and/or vegetable at lunch. We offer fresh and canned fruit at breakfast and lunch.

School meal applications may be filled out anytime during the year. For more information, email Jo-Anne Smith at JSmith@hancock.stier.org or call 607-637-1320.

Free/Reduced-Price School Meals

Some families find it impossible to pay for their children's breakfast and lunch at school. If you cannot afford full prices, the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture has established Family Eligibility Criteria to help pay for meals under the National School Lunch Program.

Family size eligibility standards will be announced publicly before the opening day of school and individual letters explaining program regulations will be sent home to parents on the first day of school.

Schools participating in reimbursed programs are required to serve free/reduced-price meals and free milk to all children from families whose total gross income is at or below the applicable income level (upon receiving an application from the family). The application form is included with the letter.

The application is confidential and will be used only for the purpose of determining eligibility for free or reduced-price meals. The application form should be submitted to the school as soon as possible.

Your child will be treated the same as other children and no one will know who is paying and who is not. In the operation of child feeding programs, no child shall be discriminated against because of race, sex, color or national origin.

Call 607-637-1320 for more information about Free/Reduced-Price School Meals and/or download the application under the Resources section at right.

A new way to pay for student meals!

Hancock Central School District families may pay for student meals through the MySchoolBucks program during the 2019-2020 school year.

Parents/guardians can make one-time or recurring payments, view student balances and track cafeteria purchases any time on the MySchoolBucks website or mobile app (iOS and Android).

Parents can pay at any time with a credit/debit card. There is a fee of $2.49 for each transaction. Newcomers can create free accounts online at www.myschoolbucks.com.

HCSD also will continue to accept traditional payments for student meals (i.e. cash, checks). For more information, click on the link above or call HCSD School Lunch Manager Jo-Anne Smith at 607-637-1320.
