Graduates, state champs made
2021-2022 extra special
Congratulations once again to Hancock Central School’s Class of 2022!

To say your journey to commencement has been an easy one would be a dramatic understatement. Over the past 2½ years, you have faced the unfortunate loss of a valued classmate as well as a multitude of disruptions, inconveniences, and setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. And yet, through it all, you have remained resilient and achieved a major milestone in your lives.

As you depart from Hancock and enter into the world, well-equipped with diplomas in hand, I expect all of you believe and trust the knowledge and skills you have acquired throughout the entire spans of your educational experiences will empower and motivate you to actively strive toward achieving your grandest hopes, dreams, and aspirations, knowing your only limitations will be those that you impose upon yourselves. Each one of you has what it takes to be great, and I urge you to believe in yourselves while actively pursuing your heartfelt destinies.

Congratulations are also in order for our Deposit-Hancock baseball and softball teams, which both won Class D state championships in June!

Our Eagles baseball team capped a perfect 23-0 season with a 14-5 defeat of Chapel Field to earn its second state championship. The first D-H state softball title came courtesy of a 17-6 season that closed with an 8-1 victory over Oriskany.

COVID canceled the entire spring sports season in 2020, as well as all state tournaments in 2021. Therefore, 2022 marked the first time D-H softball could compete together for a state title. It also was just the third state-championship opportunity for D-H baseball, which won it all in 2018 – our first season as a merged program.

We couldn’t be any more proud of our D-H Nation teams, which continue to show the many benefits of combining our athletic programs with neighboring Deposit. Our 2022 graduates and athletes are special groups of young men and women, and I applaud each for their outstanding accomplishments.

Respectfully,
Dr. Dougherty - Superintendent of SchoolsTerrance P. Dougherty, Ph.D.
