With this issue of the Wildcat News, we present the proposed 2017-2018 budget for the Hancock Central School District. Please review this information carefully. The annual budget hearing is set for Monday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Middle/High School Auditorium, and the annual budget vote is slated for Tuesday, May 16, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. in Room 203.

On September 6, 2016, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo signed legislation requiring all school districts and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES) in New York State to test potable water systems for lead contamination and to take responsive actions. To implement this new law, the Department of Health issued emergency regulations, titled Lead Testing in School Drinking Water -10 NYCRR Subpart 67-4 (Subpart 67- 4), effective September 6, 2016.

DH Cross Country - Section IV Invitational
The DH cross country teamed traveled to Chenango Valley State Park on Thursday for the Section 4 invitational. Dylan Christ from Deposit placed 6th and Kelsey Young from Hancock placed 3rd. (There are approximately 80+ competitors in each race!) Dylan and kelsey both qualified to compete in the State competition which will be held this Saturday, Nov. 12, at Chenango Valley State Park. Hard work does pay off and your merged districts and communities are very proud of you both and your accomplishments! Good luck to Dylan and Kelsey! RUN FAST!
As part of a required school health examination, a student is weighed and his/her height is measured. These numbers are used to figure out the student's body mass index or "BMI".
Deposit/Hancock Wrestling - Section 4 Class D Champions!
Congratulations to the D-H Wrestling team on becoming 2016 Section 4 Class D Champions!
Girls Bowling Team - Section 4 Class D Champions!
A big congratulations to the HCS girls bowling team on winning the Section 4 Class D Championship! The girls posted a final score of 2211, beating Elmira Notre Dame by 30 pins. Team members are: Brooke Rosengrant, Trisha McElroy, Cassie Schoonmaker, Kayla Smith, Sara Hanstine and Rachel Hanstine. The team was led by Brooke Rosengrant, with a total of 468 and a high game of 187. This earned her a 2nd place high game medal. Trisha had a 176, Cassie a 162 and Kayla had a 159 as her high game. Nice job!
