The Hancock Central School District thanks Randy and Cindy Whiting for joining Diane Layman on campus last week for their Legacy of Honor presentation.

The trio spoke to students about the Legacy of Honor, which pays tribute to the service and sacrifice of the Whiting’s son, SSG Justin R. Whiting, US Army Special Forces. A Hancock High School graduate, Justin died for his country at age 27 on January 19, 2008, while serving in Iraq.

The presentation also included a segment on why all students should know the words to the Pledge of Allegiance and what it represents.
