MODIFIED FOOTBALL OPENS WITH THRILLING TIE

Our D-H Eagles battled hard in their season opener last night, finishing in a 12-12 draw with the Walton Warriors! Both teams struck early with touchdowns on their opening drives, holding steady at 6-6 until late in the game when Walton capitalized on a fumble return to take the lead. The Eagles answered back in the closing minutes with a touchdown from Jake D’Elia to even the score.

Great effort, Eagles, in a hard-fought opening matchup!

5th Grade Art Collaboration

In Ms. Kellam’s art class, 5th graders are learning how to use simple lines and shapes as the building blocks of creativity.

The activity encourages students to:
• Recognize how basic elements of art can be transformed into objects, places, and things.
• Practice imagination by expanding on their own and their classmates’ ideas.
• Collaborate by rotating around a large paper and adding to drawings already in progress.

These photos show the project in progress. We look forward to sharing the finished piece soon!

5th Grade STEM in Action

Mrs. Rice and Mrs. Dufton’s 5th graders recently explored the science of buoyancy through a hands-on engineering challenge. Using aluminum foil, students designed and built boats, then tested their creations by adding pennies to see how much weight each boat could hold before sinking.

This activity allowed students to apply concepts of design, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry while learning how shape and structure affect an object’s ability to float. A great example of learning by doing!
