Thank you to all of our UPK and Kindergarten families who joined us for Little Cats Night Out this past week at Hancock Central School!
This special evening provided an opportunity for our future Wildcats and their families to visit the school, meet staff, explore classrooms, and become more comfortable with their new surroundings before the start of the upcoming school year.
Events like these help make the transition to school a positive and exciting experience for our youngest learners, and it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces throughout the evening.
We appreciate everyone who attended and helped make the event a success. We look forward to welcoming our newest Wildcats to HCS this fall!

Our UPK and Kindergarten boys and girls had a wonderful time celebrating with a patriotic theme this past Friday!
Students put their creativity on display as they created festive patriotic-themed snacks using graham crackers, frosting, candies, and marshmallows. From red, white, and blue designs to unique edible creations, everyone did an excellent job bringing their patriotic spirit to life.
We are proud of the hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm shown by our youngest Wildcats. Great job, boys and girls!

Congratulations to this week’s Students of the Week, Cristian Sparacio and Cash Rowe!
Ms. Milk selected Cristian because of the tremendous growth he has shown since the beginning of the school year. Things are not always easy, but Cristian has learned how to persevere and work through challenges. He has also developed a great understanding of sarcasm, and they have been having a lot of fun together in class!
Mrs. Vasconi-Smith selected Cash as Student of the Week as well. Mr. Bedient spoke on her behalf, sharing that Cash is a hard worker who always tries his best. He has grown tremendously as a reader and writer and takes pride in the progress he has made throughout the year. Cash has also come to understand sarcasm and is a pleasure to have in class.
Nice work, boys!!
Today’s Morning Program was a meaningful and memorable experience for our students and staff at HCS. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Randy and Cindy Whiting from the Legacy of Honor Foundation for joining us this morning and sharing such an important message with our students.
Randy and Cindy spoke about the life and legacy of their son, Justin Whiting, who gave his life while serving our country several years ago. They also shared the importance of Memorial Day, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, and discussed the significance of America celebrating 250 years as a nation.
As part of their visit, Randy and Cindy generously gifted each of our third grade students a copy of The Impossible Patriotism Project book.
Thank you again, Randy and Cindy, for taking the time to visit HCS and for helping our students better understand patriotism, remembrance, and service. Your message made a lasting impact on our school community.
Congratulations to Hancock Central School seniors Aidan Johnson, Landon Fuller, and Olivia DuBois, whose work was proudly on display yesterday evening at the DCMO BOCES Senior Showcase!
The showcase highlighted the creativity, hard work, and dedication of students from across the region, and we are proud to see our HCS students representing our school so well. Thank you for sharing your talents and accomplishments with the community!
Great job, Aidan, Landon, and Olivia, we are proud of you all!

Our 5th graders took full advantage of the sunshine on Monday as they celebrated Endangered Species Day in a creative way!
Students spent time on the front steps using chalk to draw and highlight a variety of endangered species from around the world. From land to sea, their artwork showcased both creativity and awareness as they learned about the importance of protecting wildlife and preserving habitats.
Great work by our young artists for combining learning, creativity, and environmental stewardship all in one colorful display!
