🎄✨ HCS Christmas Door Decorating Contest Results! ✨🎄 A big round of applause to our talented students and staff for their incredible creativity in this year’s Christmas Door Decorating contest! 🏆 1st Place: Ms. DaBrescia's room with the magical 'Polar Express' theme! 🎅 2nd Place: Our amazing custodial staff with the festive 'Santa's Workshop'! 📸 3rd Place: Mr. O'Boyle's classroom with the fun 'Take A Selfie' door! All of the doors looked absolutely FANTASTIC. Great job to everyone who participated and helped spread holiday cheer throughout our school! 🎨🎅🎄

🎄✨ ELEMENTARY CHRISTMAS CRAFTS! ✨🎄 Today, our elementary students got into the holiday spirit with fun and creative Christmas crafts! 🎨🎅 Teachers did a fantastic job organizing crafting stations, where students made ornaments, created adorable snowmen, and enjoyed coloring festive designs, among other activities. A big thank you to our dedicated teachers for making this such a memorable experience for our students! 🌟❤️

CHRISTMAS CAROLS AT MORNING PROGRAM We had a wonderful Morning Program yesterday, with our Middle School Chorus ensemble joining us to sing Christmas Carols! Our elementary students had the opportunity to join in with some wintery percussion (sleigh bells and tambourines) and singing! It was a beautiful way to celebrate the holidays here at Hancock Central. Thank you for the students that performed and Mrs. Noyd for her gorgeous piano playing! We also selected our gold slip winner, congratulations to Wyatt Drake! Way to go, Wyatt! Kinley Drake won Mr. Eddie's Christmas contest. Students had the chance to guess how many Santas are on our stage. Kinley was close with a guess of 300. There are actually 267 altogether! Thank you, Mr. Eddie for making a wonderful gift basket for the winner! Thank you to Ms. Williams, Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Stanton for your pictures! This is our last Morning Program of 2024. We wish everyone a warm holiday break!"

🎄 HCS NHS Members Spreading Holiday Cheer 🎄 Our National Honor Society members are once again making a difference this holiday season by picking up and delivering baskets for the Loaves and Fishes Food Christmas Giveaway! 💙 A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful family in our town who dedicates their time and energy throughout the year to create these thoughtful and practical gifts for those in need. STUDENT OF THE WEEK Congratulations to this week’s student of the week at Hancock elementary, Hudson Dufton! Hudson was chosen by Mrs. Vasconi-Smith because he is a kind classmate and a hard worker (with some super cool Spider-Man moves!). They also bonded over their shared love of the book "The Monster at the End of This Book" by Jon Stone. A great book choice indeed! Excellent work, Hudson!!

🥎 MAKOWSKI SIGNS WITH FDU🥎 We are thrilled to announce that Addison Makowski has officially signed her letter of intent to join Fairleigh Dickinson University this Fall as a member of their Division 1 softball program! Addison’s hard work, dedication, and talent have earned her this incredible opportunity, and we couldn’t be prouder. SENIORS VISIT GCU Thank you, Principal Durkot, for sharing pictures of our 12 graders visit to Grand Canyon University last week! The students spent several days at GCU, getting a hands-on experience of campus and everything the college has to offer. We would like to thank GCU for this opportunity!!

D-H WRESTLING WINS HOME DUAL Congratulations to our D-H Eagles Wrestling team on their home dual win last week over BGAH, 52-24! Our team had a very strong showing on the mat, excellent work! Their next contest will be the Cuneen-Doane tournament this Saturday, December 21st, in Walton. Start time is at 9:30 a.m. Good luck! #DHNation

BOYS BASKETBALL WINS MORRIS TOURNAMENT Congratulations to our D-H Eagles Boys Basketball team on winning the Morris tournament this past weekend! The Eagles started off the tourney with a 59-40 win over South Kortright, which was their first win over SK since 2002! Micah Simmons paced D-H with 23 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks. Blake Fortunato added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Jeremiah Diaz tallied 8 points, while Greyson Thomas added 4 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. On Saturday, D-H defeated Morris 84-67, with Fortunato EXPLODING for 41 points and 19 rebounds. Simmons added 18 points & 17 rebounds, as Jeremiah Diaz had 12 points with 5 rebounds. Thomas added 7 points and 5 rebounds, while AJ Gonzales tallied 6 points and 5 assists! The 4-1 Eagles will be back in action this Wednesday, December 18th, traveling to Oxford for a 7:15 p.m. match-up. Good luck and great work! #DHNation

The spread included: 🍫 Hot cocoa with chocolate-dipped spoons 🍬 Marshmallow and peppermint toppings 🍪 Graham crackers and cocoa dip Your hard work and creativity never go unnoticed—thank you for making the day extra special!

GINGERBREAD MEN Our UPK and Kindergarten boys and girls have been working hard all week on gingerbread activities! The students created their own gingerbread men and baked them in the oven. When Ms. Milk opened the oven to check on them, she noticed one that went missing! The students went on a gingerbread hunt and the missing gingerbread was found! The boys and girls then had the opportunity to decorate and enjoy their own gingerbread man. Excellent job, students! Your gingerbread men look fantastic!

BIRTHDAYS, AWARDS, GOLD SLIP WINNER We celebrated several birthdays at yesterday's Morning Program, as well as selecting this week’s gold slip winner! 🎶 Thank You, 5th Grade Chorus! 🎶 This morning, our 5th-grade chorus students filled the room with joy and music as they performed at our elementary Morning Program. They sang selections from their winter concert, including "We Will Not" and "Hot Chocolate," much to the delight of our younger students. Thank you, 5th-grade chorus, for sharing your talent and spreading the holiday spirit! 🌟👏

GIRLS BASKETBALL VICTORIOUS Congratulations to our D-H Eagles Varsity Girls Basketball team on their 51-45 win over Susquehanna last night! The Lady Eagles erased a 12 point deficit in the 3rd quarter to come away with the victory. Sarah Gross was dominant, scoring 33 points and recording 8 steals for D-H. Autumn Dohanic added 8 points, while Gwyn Nebzydoski tallied 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Excellent work, ladies! Their next game is Thursday night, as they head to Morris for their tip-off tournament. Girls Varsity plays at 5:30 p.m., with the Varsity Boys following at 7:00 p.m.
