SOFTBALL VICTORIOUS OVER AFTON
Congratulations to our D-H Eagles Softball team on their 15-0 victory over Afton last night @ DCS!
Jordan Diemer was excellent on the mound, striking out 12. She allowed one hit and 0 runs over 5 innings, while allowing 0 walks.
At the plate, D-H was dominant, with Pagen Macumber going 4-4 with 2 runs. Kadyn Appley finished with 2 hits, 2 runs and 4 rbi on the day. Olivia Johnston, Haley Begeal, Victoria Green, Leah Braun and Emma Tice each collected a pair of hits on the afternoon. Ivy Tice and Teeghan Tarbox also collected base hits, while Aubrey Smith added 3 runs for the Lady Eagles.
D-H Softball (4-0 in MAC, 5-0 Overall) is back in action tomorrow night, taking on Unatego at DCS at 4:30. Keep up the great work, ladies!!

HANDS-ON SCIENCE IN ACTION!
Mr. Torrens’ Biology students have kicked off a New York State investigation lab focused on solving a real-world problem - preventing bird collisions with windows.
Students are challenged to design and build their own solution using materials like window screens, an embroidery hoop, and textbooks. Through creativity and critical thinking, they’re working to develop a structure that can safely reduce bird impacts.
In the next phase of the lab, students will test their designs using a heavier model bird to determine if their solutions are effective across multiple species.

On Friday, April 16th, they used colorful Froot Loops to sort and organize information, recorded their results using tally charts, and then turned their data into bar graphs. To wrap up the lesson, students even enjoyed a fun (and tasty!) Froot Loop snack.
What a creative and hands-on way to bring math concepts to life!

Using angled lighting, careful observation, and tape collection methods, students worked to identify and gather samples from various items.
Next class, they’ll take their investigation a step further by analyzing the evidence under a microscope and comparing their findings to known suspect samples.

Congratulations to Mrs. Hull’s Kindergarten class for collecting the most pennies and winning the Pennies from Heaven contest!
To celebrate their hard work and generosity, the class enjoyed a special pizza party, courtesy of Delaware Valley Hospital.
A big thank you to Delaware Valley Hospital for their kindness and support in making this celebration so special for our students!

A big thank you to SUNY Delhi for hosting our 11th grade students earlier this week for our College Day trip! Our students had a great experience exploring campus, learning about academic programs, and getting a glimpse into college life. We appreciate the time and effort put into making this visit both informative and enjoyable!

Thank you to Mrs. Cooper for sharing photos from yesterday’s Morning Program!
Mrs. Feeney spoke with our students about the power of sportsmanship. She asked students to define sportsmanship, highlighting that it means treating others with respect and fairness while participating in activities or sports. Students also helped share examples of what good sportsmanship sounds like.
Together, we discussed examples of both positive and negative sportsmanship and how our choices impact others.

BASEBALL & SOFTBALL PICK UP WINS LAST NIGHT
Congratulations to our D-H Baseball and Softball teams on picking up impressive victories last night!
D-H Softball defeated Walton-Downsville with an 18-1 win in Downsville. Aubrey Smith was outstanding in the circle, tossing a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts. Ivy Tice led the offense with 3 hits, including a grand slam and a home run, finishing with 3 runs and 6 RBIs. Olivia Johnston added 2 hits (including a home run), 3 runs, and 2 RBIs. Emma Tice drove in 3 runs on two hits. Pagen Macumber, Kadyn Appley, Haley Begeal, Leah Braun, Aubrey Smith and Teeghan Tarbox each added a hit on the night as well.
On the baseball side, the Eagles secured a 14-2 road win over Walton-Downsville. Peyton Fortunato was dominant on the mound with 9 strikeouts in a one-hitter, and also contributed at the plate with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Jacoby Mapes added 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBIs. Jeter Begeal scored 3 runs, and Brody Matthews chipped in 2 runs.

CREATIVE HANDS AT WORK IN 3RD GRADE!
Our 3rd grade students were hard at work last week on their beautiful diamond art Easter crafts, and the results are amazing!
Not only did they create eye-catching designs, but they also practiced important skills along the way. Students collaborated, shared materials, and strengthened their fine motor skills throughout the process.
A big thank you to Mrs. Barnhart for providing this fun and engaging craft opportunity. The students absolutely loved it and it shows in their work!

We’d also like to extend our appreciation to our faculty and staff for their generous egg-filler donations! Your contributions helped make the hunts even more exciting!
Students even had a special visit from the Easter Bunny, adding even more excitement and smiles to the day!
