Welcome to Hancock Central School, Mr. Cutting! 🌟 We’re excited to officially welcome Nathan Cutting as our new High School Biology and Middle School Life Science teacher! Mr. Cutting joined HCS in early December and has quickly become a valued member of our team. With a strong background in Conservation Biology (SUNY-ESF) and Adolescence Education (Binghamton University), Mr. Cutting brings a wealth of experience, having previously taught at Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton and Walton CSD. His dedication to fostering a love for science is matched by his passion for the outdoors and involvement in various educational and community organizations. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Cutting enjoys soccer, board games with his daughters, reading, fishing, and hunting. He’s already made a positive impact, and we’re thrilled to have him inspire our students for years to come. Welcome to the Wildcat family, Mr. Cutting! 🎉

Welcome to Hancock Central School, Mrs. Feeney! 🌟 We’re delighted to introduce Amanda Feeney, our new School Counselor, who joined HCS in early December. Mrs. Feeney is stationed in the elementary school (Room 112) but is here to support all students, PK-12. A recent graduate of St. Bonaventure’s School Counseling master’s program, Mrs. Feeney brings a wealth of experience, including over 800 internship hours at Sullivan West Elementary and MS/HS, and many years working at the Center for Discovery. She currently resides in Roscoe with her husband, 5-month-old, and two cockapoos. Mrs. Feeney is excited to collaborate with staff and students, working with PBIS tiers to provide meaningful support both in her office and within classrooms. We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the positive impact she will make in our school community. Welcome to the Wildcat family, Mrs. Feeney! 🎉

🎉 Fun Friday at Hancock Central School! 🎉 Today, our UPK and Kindergarten students had an exciting Fun Friday experience with a special guest! Marley from WSKG stopped by to visit our little learners, and what a fantastic time it was! She introduced the students to the world of PBS Kids and shared wonderful resources for parents to access at home. 💻 Marley, with her warm and friendly energy, even watched an episode of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood with the students. They had a blast as they learned valuable lessons from Daniel and his friends! After the show, the students got creative by coloring their favorite Daniel Tiger characters and making colorful hats to wear. 🎨 A big thank you to Marley and WSKG for making this day so special for our students! We can't wait for more fun learning adventures in the future! 💖

BIRTHDAYS, GOLD SLIP AT MORNING PROGRAM Earlier today, we celebrated several birthdays and chose this week’s gold slip winner at Morning Program. Happiest of birthdays go out to Liberty Gerchman-Van Loan, Grayson Speer and Oliver Haskell! We hope each of you have a wonderful time on your birthday!! Last week’s student of the week, Luka Brkaric, selected the gold slip winner this week. Congratulations to Carsyn DaBrescia-McGraw on being selected, she is pictured with her prize! Mr. Bedient’s student of the week was absent this week, so they will be highlighted and honored at next week’s program. We look forward to seeing you all then!

COLD WEATHER/DOOR TO DOOR PICKUP HCS Families: Due to the low temperatures over the next few days, please keep your students inside until the bus arrives. The bus will wait for the student to come out. This may alter our traditional pick-up time by a couple of minutes, so please be patient. Walkers will be allowed in the building right at 7:45.

WRESTLING WIN’S ON SENIOR NIGHT Congratulations to our D-H Wrestlers on picking up a victory over Marathon on Senior Recognition night yesterday! Deposit seniors Brielle Wright, Indira Ramos, Lucas Barnes, Landen Bailey and Ryan Stoss were recognized before the match for their hard work, dedication and leadership throughout their years with the team. We wish you all the best as you complete your final year at the high school level! Last night we also celebrated 100 wins for Landyn Shaffer and Asaac Mead. Shaffer is a sophomore and Mead a junior, so they will continue to tally more victories in the next few years. Congratulations on this wonderful and difficult achievement!! D-H had victories from Evan Johnson, Landyn Shaffer, Jason Canedo, Asaac Mead, Tyler Reis, Jackson Velez, Lucas Barnes, Kam Hallock, Landen Bailey and Ty Rynearson last night en route to a 55-6 win over Marathon. Luka was chosen by Mrs. Robinson, who had the following to say: “Luka has grown so much, with his reading, writing, math. Not just in his schoolwork though, his heart has grown so much. NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, MONDAY Just a reminder that there will be no school for students this Friday, January 17 (Superintendent’s Day) and Monday, January 20 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day). School will resume Tuesday, January 21, which is also the start of January Regents week (January 21-24). There are several other important dates coming up, with the end of quarter 2 occurring on Friday, January 24. CBT (Computer Based Testing) simulations will be January 27-28, with no school on Wednesday, January 29 (Lunar New Year). #WeAreHCS

BASKETBALL VICTORIOUS ON SENIOR NIGHT Congratulations to the D-H Eagles Boys Varsity Basketball team on their 96-74 win over Harpursville during senior night! Micah Simmons had a triple-double, pouring in 42 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists. Blake Fortunato scored 37 points, with 11 rebounds and 5 steals. Noah Bass and Jacoby Mapes each added a pair of baskets, while AJ Gonzales had 9 rebounds and 6 assists. The win pushes the D-H to 7-3 on the year, with a 2-1 record in the MAC. Before the contest, we celebrated our Deposit and Hancock seniors for all their hard work & leadership through their years. Congratulations to Leo Lo, AJ Gonzales and Blake Fortunato for their dedication and leadership on and off the court for Deposit-Hancock. We wish you all the best as you complete your final year at the high school level! The boys are in action tomorrow, 1/15, as they have a big MAC league contest against Walton-Downsville.
