We enjoyed a wonderful Morning Program earlier today focused on kindness, self-care, and starting the new year with positive intentions! Mrs. Feeney led a thoughtful presentation on being kind to ourselves and the power of positive affirmations. Students discussed what affirmations are, how they help us, and why practicing them matters.
Mrs. Feeney challenged our students in 2026 to try saying affirmations to themselves every day, reminding them that the more we practice, the stronger our positive thoughts become.
Following the presentation, we proudly announced our Triple B Award winners. Congratulations to Sierra Gorshack, Asher Barnhart, Kallen Robinson, Karissa Mack, Ezra Berlingeri and Dawson Dufton on their Triple B awards!
Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning, we appreciate your continued support.
Our next Morning Program will be held on January 22nd. We hope to see you there!

Thank you to DCMO BOCES for visiting today and presenting their BOCES Roadshow to our students! Our 8th and 10th graders gained valuable insight into the wide range of programs and opportunities available through DCMO BOCES, as well as the possibilities of attending BOCES in 9th and 11th grades.
A special thank you to Jessica Soulier and Barry Beale for leading the presentation on behalf of DCMO BOCES. Jessica, a proud HCS alum, shared her experience as an Integrated ELA & CTE teacher for DCMO BOCES, while Barry provided helpful information and guidance in his role as DCMO BOCES Career Counselor. Their knowledge and personal perspectives made the presentation especially meaningful for our students.
We appreciate you taking the time to share this valuable information with our students and helping them explore future pathways!
Just a reminder to our families that Morning Program will take place tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. in the elementary building.
We look forward to seeing you there!
See the graphic below for important, upcoming dates for the month of January at HCS!

During the month of November, our 4th graders learned about Native Americans who lived in what is now New York State. Along with classroom learning, students chose to complete a project at home with their families focused on the Iroquois.
Students explored topics such as Iroquois longhouses, clothing, games, toys, and masks. Many created detailed models and displays, then proudly brought their projects to school to present to their classmates.
They did an amazing job! Thank you to our families and staff for helping bring this learning to life.

WINTER WALKING PROGRAM
Hancock Central School District will be offering their Winter Wellness Walking Program for area residents who wish to walk inside during the cold weather. On weekdays, the Hancock Central middle/high school building will be open for walkers from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on the second floor and third floor only.
The second-floor entrance by the Main Office will be used for entering and exiting the building, and there will be a sign-in/sign-out sheet inside the 2nd floor entrance. This program begins January 5, 2026 and ends May 1, 2026. The building will not be open for walking on days that school is closed.

We kept the spirit going on Thursday with “Naughty vs. Nice” Day! Students and staff had fun choosing their side and showing off festive outfits ranging from sweet and cheerful to mischievously merry.
Today is ‘Ugly Sweater’ day! From classic holiday designs to creative and cozy looks, the participation was fantastic and the smiles were everywhere.
As we begin our holiday break, we would like to wish all of our HCS families a safe, restful, and enjoyable time filled with moments of joy and togetherness.
Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming all of our students back to school on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Happy Holidays from all of us at HCS!

Our elementary students had a festive and memorable day filled with creativity and reflection. Students in grades 1–4 enjoyed our annual Christmas Craft Day, rotating through cheerful crafting stations while listening to holiday music and celebrating the season with friends!
In addition, students in grades 2–4 were visited by Mr. and Mrs. Whiting from Legacy of Honor, who shared special holiday ornaments and an important message centered on Bravery, Honor, and Freedom. Thank you for taking the time to visit HCS and for making the day even more meaningful for our students!

Mrs. Keller’s Home & Careers classes and Mrs. Wormuth’s Technology classes put their creativity to work while designing and building impressive gingerbread houses. Students combined planning, teamwork, and imagination to create festive structures that were as detailed as they were delicious.
Wonderful work by all of our students, these creations truly captured the holiday spirit!

Thank you to Mrs. Noyd and her assistant student carolers for stopping by classrooms to share Christmas songs and festive cheer! Your beautiful singing brought smiles to students and staff and helped make the day extra special.
We appreciate you spreading the holiday spirit throughout our school!

Thank you to Alyssa Davis for stopping in to our UPK and 2nd grade yesterday to decorate sugar cookies with our students! It was a fun and festive activity that everyone enjoyed. We appreciate you taking the time to help make the day extra sweet for our students!
Congratulations to our two outstanding Students of the Week at Hancock Elementary!
Leilani Thompson (Mrs. Vasconi-Smith’s class):
Leilani works very hard and consistently puts great effort into all of her work. She is always friendly to her classmates and is an overall joy to have in the classroom.
Loralei Davis (Ms. Milk’s class):
Loralei is a hard worker who is kind to her friends. She enjoys having fun and can joke around with her teacher and classmates, bringing a positive energy to the classroom.
Great job, Leilani and Loralei, keep up the wonderful work!
Santa Claus made another special visit to our elementary students this morning! He stopped by to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and spend some time taking pictures with the students, bringing lots of smiles and holiday cheer.
Thank you, Santa, for making the season extra special for our students!

Dear families,
Beginning tonight into tomorrow, there are advisories for high winds and precipitation. Although the temperatures will be warm in the AM, they are expected to continue to drop throughout the day causing a wintry mix and potential icing on our hills. Instead of usual Friday dismissal, we will dismiss all students at 11:15 AM. Please call the main offices if you have any questions. We wish you a wonderful holiday and safe travels!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Morning Program earlier today! We had a full house as our elementary students filled the room with Christmas carols and holiday cheer. They did a wonderful job, and we are so proud of their performances.
We appreciate our families and community for coming out to support our students!
Holiday cheer was on full display in our Middle–High School yesterday for Holiday Accessories Day! From festive hats and jingle necklaces to reindeer antlers and holiday flair, our students and staff showed off their creativity and school spirit.
Great job, everyone, keep the spirit going!

We had too many pictures for one post, so here is the second photo dump of our visit from Santa Claus earlier today. The students were VERY excited to get an opportunity to speak with him!!
