Thank You, Mrs. Feeney and Mr. Mitchell! A big THANK YOU to Mrs. Feeney for joining our elementary Morning Program today to talk with students about the important value of perseverance. Mrs. Feeney engaged the students by first asking them what they thought perseverance means, then explaining it clearly and meaningfully. She gave real-life examples and invited students to participate by giving a thumbs up if someone was showing perseverance—or a thumbs down if they weren’t. It was a great way to help our Wildcats understand and recognize this powerful trait in action! Mrs. Feeney also presented this week’s Triple B Awards, which went to: Maja Noble, Katrina Siegler, Kallen Robinson, Jaxson Titus, Harper Bartholomew and Mia Cotza. Great job showing what it means to Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible! We also want to thank Mr. Mitchell, who awarded the Golden Trash Can to the class that has kept their classroom the cleanest at the end of the school year. Congratulations to Mrs. Smith’s class, who earned this special award—and a pizza party coming soon! Way to go, Wildcats!

HCS Welcomes the John Lennon Real Love Project! Today, students in grades 3–8 at Hancock Central School had the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the John Lennon Real Love Project (JLRLP)—a visionary songwriting and recording program made possible by the STEAM Fund in partnership with Theatre Within. During this powerful workshop, students: - Learned about John Lennon’s life, music, and core values of peace, love, and equality - Collaborated with professional teaching artists to write their own lyrics to Lennon’s song “Real Love” - Recorded their own version of the song—featuring John’s original piano and vocal tracks! As part of the experience, students also engaged in meaningful conversations about kindness—sharing ideas on how they can be kind and helpful to others at school, at home, and in their community. These thoughtful discussions encouraged students to reflect on how small acts of kindness can have a big impact—echoing Lennon’s message of love and unity. This unique program helps students find their voices while using music as a platform to promote positive change. Their finished recording will be shared on the John Lennon Tribute YouTube Channel, showcasing their creativity and compassion for a global audience. A heartfelt thank you to the JLRLP team—Beth Bierko, Gary Siegel, and Scott Bierko—for bringing this unforgettable experience to HCS and inspiring our students to imagine, create, and care. Endorsed by Yoko Ono and the Lennon Estate, the John Lennon Real Love Project reminds us all that real love begins with young voices and big ideas. We will be celebrating D-H T&F athlete Mirabella for her 3000 meter Section IV Class D championship and our D-H baseball and softball teams for their Section IV Class C championships! It will start in Deposit at 5:30, then continue in Hancock around 6:15! BASEBALL WINS SECTIONAL TITLE! Congratulations to our D-H Eagles baseball team on winning the Section IV Championship yesterday at Mirabito stadium! The #2 seeded Eagles were down 2-0 early on against #1 seed, Trumansburg, but fought back, tying the game 2-2 in the 3rd inning. D-H added 5 runs in the 5th and 4 more in the 6th to pull away. Final score, 11 to 3! Excellent work, guys. Congratulations on becoming Section IV Class C Champions!!

JV SOFTBALL WINS MAC CHAMPIONSHIP Congratulations to our D-H JV Softball team on securing the MAC Championship with their 16-1 victory over Oxford last night! Emma Tice drove in 6 runs on 3 hits, while Karynn Appley and Jordan Diemer went 2-3 at the plate. Appley collected 2 rbi and 3 runs, while Diemer had 1 rbi and 4 runs. The JV Lady Eagles also received hits from Averie Lester, Jovie Linkroum, Autumn Dohanic and Piper Davie on the evening. On the mound, Jordan Diemer was dominant, striking out 10 batters while allowing no hits and a single run over 5 innings. Excellent work, girls, way to go!!

STUDENT OF THE WEEK, GOLD SLIP WINNER Congratulations to this week’s student of the week at Hancock elementary, Elijah Fraser! Elijah was chosen by Ms. Milk, as she stated, because, “He has grown tremendously in the last few years, is a great friend to his classmates and is always trying to do the right thing in class.” Wonderful job, Elijah!! Also, our gold slip winner was chosen at yesterday’s program, congratulations to Hudson Dufton! Hudson is pictured with his prize! Great work by both of you!

VARSITY SOFTBALL BEGINS SECTIONAL PLAY Good luck to our D-H Eagles softball team as they begin sectional play this afternoon, taking on Harpursville at 4:30 p.m. in Deposit. The #1-seeded Lady Eagles had a bye in the first round, which began this past Thursday. If they win tonight, D-H will play in the sectional semifinals this Thursday, 5/29. The sectional championship is scheduled for Saturday, 5/31, at Greenlight Grand Slam Park. Best of luck, ladies!!

Thank You, Randy & Cindy Whiting! We were honored to welcome Randy and Cindy Whiting to today’s Morning Program! They spoke with our students about the importance of Memorial Day and took time to thank all those who have served our country. Randy and Cindy also generously delivered copies of "The Impossible Patriotism Project" by Linda Skeers to our third-grade students and shared information about their “Legacy of Honor” essay contest, which is open to all students. Thank you, Randy and Cindy, for your continued support and for inspiring our students to remember and honor the true meaning of service and sacrifice

JV BASEBALL WINS MAC CHAMPIONSHIP Congratulations to our D-H Eagles JV Baseball team on their MAC Championship victory last week! D-H secured the title with a 9-4 win over Greene, finishing the season with a 12-2 record. Excellent work, boys!!

It was a wonderful evening celebrating the artistic talents of our students, and we couldn't be prouder.
