CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR HCEF SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS!
Congratulations to Marco Avila (Grade 12) and Madilynn Gustin (Grade 10), who were each awarded a $500 scholarship from the Hancock Community Education Foundation (HCEF) during College & Career Night last week!
We are proud to recognize Marco and Madilynn for this accomplishment and wish them continued success as they pursue their educational and career goals.
A special thank you to the HCEF for hosting such a wonderful evening and providing our students with valuable opportunities to connect with colleges, careers, and members of our community.

SCHOOL PICTURES NEXT WEEK
Families, Upstate Images will be taking school pictures at HCS on Tuesday, October 6th, for the MS-HS, and Wednesday, October 7th for the Elementary School. Picture forms were sent home with students last week, but please contact the main office if you need another one. Digital ordering information is listed below.

D-H FOOTBALL TOPS BGAH FOR DIVISIONAL WIN
Congratulations to our D-H Eagles Football team for fighting and grinding their way to a 14-6 divisional victory on the road against BGAH this past Friday!
Trailing 6-0 at half, Jake D’Elia gave the Eagles a 7-6 lead after a massive kick return TD to start the 3rd quarter. D’Elia also had a huge run to set up the 2nd TD, which Peyton Fortunato scored on a QB sneak.
The win puts D-H at 2-1 on the year, with DCS homecoming taking place this weekend as D-H takes on Sidney (Saturday, 10/3 at DCS – 1:30 p.m. kickoff).

CLASS OF 2027 - SENIORS STAKE THEIR CLAIM!
Our Class of 2027 seniors are officially staking their claim to their student parking spots!
Our seniors recently received their very own Class of 2027 parking sign, giving them the chance to personalize their spot and show off their class pride in style.
The excitement was easy to see as our seniors proudly received their signs and marked their parking spaces as their own. It’s another fun milestone as they continue their journey through their final years at HCS!
We can’t wait to see these signs proudly displayed throughout the student parking lot!

D-H FOOTBALL BATTLES HARD AGAINST SCHUYLER
The Deposit-Hancock Eagles fought hard last week in a 21-8 loss to Schuyler. Jake D’Elia found the end zone on an impressive 38-yard touchdown run, with Xavier Esolen adding the two-point conversion. Clark Porosky also made a nice catch on a pass from Peyton Fortunato.
The Eagles turn their attention to a big divisional matchup this Friday, September 25, as D-H hits the road to take on BG-AH. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM!

D-H ATHLETICS UPDATE!
It was a great stretch for our Deposit-Hancock Eagles, with both Field Hockey and Volleyball earning impressive victories recently!
D-H Field Hockey blanked Newark Valley 10-0 in a Section IV non-division matchup yesterday! Abby Davie led the Eagles with 3 goals, while Nora Bartholomew added 2 goals. Braylee Marino and Braidynn Marino each recorded a goal and an assist, with Jordan Diemer, Victoria Green, and Teeghan Tarbox also finding the back of the net. Lily Avila added 2 assists.
The Eagles are back in action tomorrow, September 24, at Sidney, with a 7:00 p.m. start under the lights.
D-H Volleyball picked up a 3-0 MAC victory over Greene on the road Monday evening, winning 25-18, 25-18, and 25-17! Haley Begeal recorded 12 service points and 3 digs, while Kourtney Woodmansee contributed 6 assists, 3 aces, and 3 kills.
Congratulations to both teams on their victories, and best of luck to our Eagles in their upcoming games!
WELCOME BACK, SANDER!
We are excited to welcome Sander back to Hancock Central School for another school year! Our friendly therapy dog is once again spending quality time with our boys and girls, bringing plenty of smiles, comfort, and positive energy to our school.
Sander is a familiar and much-loved face around HCS. Whether he’s greeting students, offering a quiet moment of companionship, or simply brightening someone’s day, his presence is a special part of our school community.
We’re so happy to have Sander back and look forward to another great year filled with wagging tails, happy smiles, and plenty of time with our students!

5TH GRADE FLOAT CHALLENGE!
Mrs. Rice’s 5th graders put their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills to the test last week with a fun hands-on experiment!
Students were challenged to create their own floats using nothing but aluminum foil. Once their designs were complete, it was time to put them to the test! Students carefully placed pennies inside their floats to see which design could hold the most before sinking.
This activity was a great way for students to explore concepts like buoyancy, design, perseverance, and the importance of learning from trial and error. We love seeing our students learn by doing!

Yesterday, we celebrated our first NY Thursdays meal of the school year with a delicious menu featuring a hot dog, potato chips, tomato & cucumber salad, and Mexican street corn. Today, students enjoyed Assorted Pizza Day!
We love seeing our students enjoying their meals, sharing time with friends, and recharging for the rest of their school day.

D-H EAGLES GOLF DEFEATS PREVIOUSLY UNDEFEATED SIDNEY!
Our D-H Eagles golf team pulled off a thrilling victory over previously undefeated Sidney last night at French Woods Golf Course, edging the Warriors by just one stroke, 219–220!
In an incredibly tight contest, Wyatt Persbacker led the way for D-H with a 38, recording two birdies and four pars. Holden Dufton turned in a season-best 42, highlighted by one birdie and three pars. Cooper Wormuth followed with a 44, including one birdie and three pars.
Ethan Dennis contributed a 46 with one birdie and one par, while Talan Kille rounded out the D-H scoring with a 49, including one par.
With the victory, D-H improves to 6-3 in league play and keeps its championship hopes alive. The Eagles will travel to Delhi tomorrow for another important matchup against the MAC-leading Bulldogs, who currently sit at 7-1.

D-H GOLF CONTINUES STRONG RUN!
The Deposit-Hancock Golf team picked up two impressive MAC victories at French Woods Country Club over the past week!
D-H topped Bainbridge-Guilford, 246-266, with Wyatt Persbacker leading the Eagles with a 42, including two birdies!
The Eagles then followed that performance with a 245-275 victory over Unatego-Franklin last night. Persbacker once again led the way, shooting a 39 with five pars. Ethan Dennis, Cooper Wormuth, and Macoy Mastropietro each added a par to their rounds, while Holden Dufton contributed three pars and a score of 48.
D-H has a big challenge ahead tomorrow afternoon, as they take on current MAC leaders Sidney, who enter the matchup with a 6-0 record.
