They got hot in the 4th quarter thanks to Alejandro Gonzales, outscoring the Spartans by a score of 25-12. Gonzales led D-H with 22 points, including 5 three pointers. Micah Simmons added 17 points and 20 rebounds, while Blake Fortunato had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Noah Bass added a steal, Jacoby Mapes had 6 points and 7 rebounds, while Greyson Thomas chipped in a couple baskets and a block.
On Wednesday, D-H was in Greene, where they outlasted the Trojans 70-59 in overtime. Micah Simmons was dominant, with 29 points and a NYSPHSAA tie for the single game rebound record at 31! Fortunato added 20 points, Gonzales had 10 points and Mapes tallied 8 points and 18 rebounds. The Eagles stepped up the defense in the extra period, outscoring Greene 11-0.
The pair of wins move D-H to 5th overall in the MAC standings (5-3), with the possibility of moving up to 3rd depending on the final two games. Oxford currently sits 3rd at 6-2, with Sidney also 5-3 in the 4th position. The top 4 teams will play for the MAC League championship during the week of February 17th.
