HAPPY NATIONAL PRINCIPALS DAY!
Today, we proudly recognize and celebrate our outstanding principal, Mr. Durkot, for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to the Hancock Central School community.

D-H SOFTBALL CONTINUES TO ROLL
Congratulations to our Deposit-Hancock Eagles Softball team on an impressive 18-2 MAC victory over Greene in 5 innings at DCS!
Aubrey Smith was outstanding in the circle, tossing a 3-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead the Eagles.
The offense was on fire all game long:
• Ivy Tice had a huge night with 4 hits, 4 runs, and 4 RBIs, including 2 doubles and a triple
• Leah Braun crushed 3 doubles
• Kadyn Appley added 3 hits, 3 runs, and 3 RBIs
• Emma Tice drove in 4 RBIs
• Olivia Johnston contributed 2 hits and 2 runs
• Haley Begeal chipped in 2 hits and 2 RBIs
• Pagen Macumber, Averie Lester, and Teeghan Tarbox each added hits for D-H
A complete team effort from start to finish! Great work, ladies!
Softball has a busy week, as they travel to UV/GMU tomorrow, take on Delhi @ DCS on Friday and head to Maine Endwell on Saturday (10:00 am and 12:00 pm games).

SOFTBALL GOES 3-1 AT MORABITO TOURNAMENT
This past weekend, our D-H Eagles Softball team competed in the Morabito Tournament at Greenlight Networks Park in Binghamton, finishing with an impressive 3-1 record against tough competition across multiple classes.
After a hard-fought 5-4 loss to Fayetteville-Manlius (Class AA) in the opening round (where F-M walked it off in the bottom of the 7th) the Eagles bounced back in a big way.
Kadyn Appley led the offense with 2 hits, while Ivy Tice added a triple and Haley Begeal chipped in a double. Ivy Tice and Aubrey Smith combined for 8 strikeouts in the circle.
On Sunday, D-H came ready to compete:
• 10-8 win over Colonie (Class AAA)
Kadyn Appley stayed hot with 3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs. Olivia Johnston added 2 hits, including a triple, while Victoria Green contributed 2 hits.
• 7-6 win over Horseheads (Class AA)
The Eagles held off a late push to secure the win. Jordan Diemer recorded 6 strikeouts, Kadyn Appley added 2 hits, a triple, and 2 runs, and Leah Braun drove in 2 RBIs. Ivy Tice and Emma Tice each added doubles.
The Eagles also earned a forfeit victory over Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour (Class B) to round out the weekend.
Great work by our Eagles competing at a high level and representing D-H with pride all weekend long!

D-H TRACK & FIELD SENIOR RECOGNITION
Last week, we proudly celebrated our D-H Eagles Track & Field seniors and all they have contributed to our program over the years.
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to the following seniors for their dedication, perseverance, and hard work: Patrick Esolen, Evan Madugno, Marissa Zaczek, Asher Shewring, Victoria Vivar and Mirabella Sanford.

PIZZA MAKING WEEK IN MRS. KELLER’S CLASS!
Students in Mrs. Keller’s classes had a deliciously fun and educational experience during Pizza Making Week! From start to finish, students got hands-on in the kitchen, learning the science behind making the perfect pizza.
They began by making their own dough, hydrating yeast and feeding it sugar to produce carbon dioxide, causing the dough to rise right before their eyes! Students also created homemade tomato sauce and topped their pizzas with a variety of ingredients of their choice.
What a great way to combine science, creativity, and cooking skills. Nice work, everyone!

Congratulations to our D-H Eagles Softball team on their 15-0 victory over Afton last night @ DCS!
Jordan Diemer was excellent on the mound, striking out 12. She allowed one hit and 0 runs over 5 innings, while allowing 0 walks.
At the plate, D-H was dominant, with Pagen Macumber going 4-4 with 2 runs. Kadyn Appley finished with 2 hits, 2 runs and 4 rbi on the day. Olivia Johnston, Haley Begeal, Victoria Green, Leah Braun and Emma Tice each collected a pair of hits on the afternoon. Ivy Tice and Teeghan Tarbox also collected base hits, while Aubrey Smith added 3 runs for the Lady Eagles.
D-H Softball (4-0 in MAC, 5-0 Overall) is back in action tomorrow night, taking on Unatego at DCS at 4:30. Keep up the great work, ladies!!

HANDS-ON SCIENCE IN ACTION!
Mr. Torrens’ Biology students have kicked off a New York State investigation lab focused on solving a real-world problem - preventing bird collisions with windows.
Students are challenged to design and build their own solution using materials like window screens, an embroidery hoop, and textbooks. Through creativity and critical thinking, they’re working to develop a structure that can safely reduce bird impacts.
In the next phase of the lab, students will test their designs using a heavier model bird to determine if their solutions are effective across multiple species.
Great work applying science to real-life challenges, boys and girls!

Using angled lighting, careful observation, and tape collection methods, students worked to identify and gather samples from various items.
Next class, they’ll take their investigation a step further by analyzing the evidence under a microscope and comparing their findings to known suspect samples.

A big thank you to SUNY Delhi for hosting our 11th grade students earlier this week for our College Day trip! Our students had a great experience exploring campus, learning about academic programs, and getting a glimpse into college life. We appreciate the time and effort put into making this visit both informative and enjoyable!

Congratulations to our D-H Baseball and Softball teams on picking up impressive victories last night!
D-H Softball defeated Walton-Downsville with an 18-1 win in Downsville. Aubrey Smith was outstanding in the circle, tossing a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts. Ivy Tice led the offense with 3 hits, including a grand slam and a home run, finishing with 3 runs and 6 RBIs. Olivia Johnston added 2 hits (including a home run), 3 runs, and 2 RBIs. Emma Tice drove in 3 runs on two hits. Pagen Macumber, Kadyn Appley, Haley Begeal, Leah Braun, Aubrey Smith and Teeghan Tarbox each added a hit on the night as well.
On the baseball side, the Eagles secured a 14-2 road win over Walton-Downsville. Peyton Fortunato was dominant on the mound with 9 strikeouts in a one-hitter, and also contributed at the plate with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Jacoby Mapes added 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBIs.
