Hancock Central School Presents High School Play, You Can’t Take It With You Hancock Central School is excited to announce its upcoming high school play, You Can’t Take It With You, a timeless comedy by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The performance will take place on Friday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m. in the Middle-High School Auditorium. Admission is free, though donations and canned goods are encouraged to support local community needs. This classic play follows the whimsical Sycamore family, whose unconventional lifestyle invites both laughs and inspiration. Their joyful approach to life contrasts with the world around them, reminding audiences of the value of living life on one’s own terms. Hancock’s talented students have been hard at work, ready to deliver a performance that is sure to entertain. To make it an evening event, the Hancock Sophomore Class will also host a dinner at the Hancock House from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. before the show. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the meal and support the Sophomore Class, then head over to the play for a memorable night. Hancock Central School will be having a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. This meal is free to all Senior Citizens, Hancock Rotary, Veteran’s, and Retirees of the Hancock Central School district and will be held in the MS/HS cafeteria. D-H VOLLEYBALL SECTIONALS THURSDAY Good luck to our D-H Eagles Volleyball team as they take on Delhi in the Section IV Class D semi-final this Thursday! D-H FOOTBALL WINS ON SENIOR RECOGNITION The DH Eagles varsity football team closed out their regular season with a bang last night, scoring 37 unanswered 2nd half points to beat Newark Valley, 51-13. The Eagles defense proved very stiff and difficult for the Cardinals to crack and forced many 4th downs. On a night when the Eagles honored 9 seniors, the Eagles accrued nearly 500 yards of total offense. Blake Fortunato led the way with 111 yards and 3 TD's on the ground, while fellow senior Lucas Barnes also added 106 yards. Noah Bass had 67 yards (1TD), Brody Matthews had 5 yards and Marco Avila had 11. In the air, the combination of Fortunato and Matthews tallied 186 yards in the air, completing TD's to Senior Tyler Persbacker (37 yards), Micah Simmons (40 yards) and Conor Mills (73 yards). Senior AJ Gonzales, Barnes, Bass, and Greyson Thomas all secured target(s) as well. The linemen, not the stat accruing type who were also honored include Ryan Stoss, Jacob Davis, Evan Baudendistel, and Ryan Smith, as well as Leo Lo. The Eagles closed out the regular season scoring more points than any team in section IV, averaging over 47 points per game. The boys will travel to Susquehanna Valley on Saturday at either 12 or 3 PM to face Delaware Academy, the winner of Division VI. In the other contest, Tioga (Division VII winner) will face SVEC, who placed second in Division VI. The winners will advance to the sectional finals. NHS INDUCTIONS THIS WEDNESDAY Please join us Wednesday, November 6th as we honor our HCS students to be inducted into the National Honor Society! FIELD HOCKEY WINS SECTIONAL SEMI-FINAL Congratulations to our D-H Eagles Field Hockey team on their 6-2 sectional semi-final victory over Marathon yesterday! For the Eagles, Sarah Gross scored 3 goals and tallied 1 assist. Goals were also scored by Nora Bartholomew, Leah Braun and Aubrey Smith. Amanda Ray added 3 assists in the contest. The Halloween Parade kicks off at 5:00 p.m., with lineup starting at 4:45 p.m. in front of the Middle-High School building. FIELD HOCKEY SECTIONALS Join us tomorrow afternoon in Deposit at Warner Field as our #2 seed D-H Eagles take on Marathon in the Sectional semi-finals! Deposit-Hancock (13-3) is the #2 seed, taking on #3 seeded Marathon (10-7), with a 3:30 p.m. start time. The winner will take on the winner of #1 seeded Whitney Point (14-2) and #4 seed, Spencer Van Etten/Candor (8-9), in the sectional finals. October is National Bullying Prevention Month! At Hancock Central School, we’re taking this time to spread awareness and promote kindness. It’s important to understand the difference between being mean and bullying: 🔹 Being Mean usually happens once or twice and might involve unkind words or actions that hurt someone’s feelings. It can happen without the intention to cause harm. 🔹 Bullying is repeated behavior that’s meant to intentionally hurt, harm, or control someone. It’s ongoing, and the person doing it has more power (physically, socially, or emotionally) over the person being targeted. 💡 What Can You Do? • Speak Up! If you see something that doesn’t feel right, let someone know. • Show Kindness! A small act of kindness can make a big difference. • Be Supportive! Stand up for your peers and promote a safe and welcoming environment. MASH CAMP Several of our students joined Mrs. Rice yesterday for a visit to Delaware Valley UHS Hospital to participate in MASH camp. At MASH (MultiCare Academy for Students in Healthcare) camp, the students explored various healthcare careers, gained hands-on experience, and were inspired by the dedicated professionals they met.
