FREE COVID-19 TESTS To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 -- and to support strong school attendance so that students can safely learn in person -- the U.S. Department of Education (ED) is working in collaboration with the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide free COVID-19 tests to school districts. What this means is that our district has requested and received COVID tests, and they are available for our whole community. You can call the MS/HS health office to arrange to pick up your free COVID-19 tests. Please call (607) 637-1310 or (607) 637-1311 between 8 am and 3 pm when school is in session.

SCHOOL PICTURE RE-TAKES SET FOR 10/24-10/25 School picture retakes will occur for Elementary students on Thursday, October 24th. Middle-High School retakes will take place on Friday, October 25th. If you would like your child's picture retaken, please return the entire package you received to school prior to picture retake day. RESCUE SQUAD, FIRE DEPARTMENT VISIT MORNING PROGRAM We would like to say thank you to the Town of Hancock Volunteer Ambulance and the Hancock Fire Department for joining us at our morning program today! 🚒🚑 We appreciate you taking the time to speak about fire safety, medical emergencies, and how to properly call 911. The students were able to see Mr. D'Elia geared up in his fire-retardant suit while fire chief Bojo spoke about how the suit helps Mr. D'Elia stay safe. The importance of stop, drop and roll was emphasized, with several students demonstrating what to do in the event of a fire. The students also enjoyed seeing Mr. Bedient propped up on the stretcher! Your dedication and service to our community make a huge difference, and we're grateful for all that you do! 🙏🔥 #WeAreHCS

EARLY DISMISSAL THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10 We would like to remind families of the 15-minute early dismissal drill on Thursday, October 10. This drill, mandated by New York State, must be tested at least once per year, and must occur no more than 15 minutes prior to the normal student dismissal time. There are several components to the drill, including helping schools practice their evacuation and communications procedures, and assisting the bus garage with emergency transportation procedures.

FIELD HOCKEY PICKS UP BIG WIN Congratulations to our D-H Eagles field hockey team on defeating Afton-Harpursville yesterday afternoon by a score of a 2-1! After trailing 1-0 early on, the D-H Eagles scored two goals in the second half of the game to pick up the win in a tight contest! Goals were scored by Amanda Ray and Leah Braun for D-H. Nora Bartholomew picked up an assist and Kadyn Appley had 4 saves. The victory puts D-H in great shape with a 9-2 overall record on the season. They have another tough match-up on Monday, as they take on Vestal. Game time is at 4:30 p.m. in Deposit. Excellent work! #DHNation

CONSTRUCTION & CAREER DAY Several of our HCS students had the opportunity to visit the Broome County Highway Department as they hosted Construction and Career Day yesterday. The event allowed high school students from HCS and neighboring schools across the southern tier to talk with various employers and explore different job/trade opportunities. The students had the opportunity to experience trades such as carpentry, masonry and heavy machinery operation, among others. We want to thank the Broome County Highway Department for this wonderful opportunity for our students! #WeAreHCS

CUSTODIAL APPRECIATION DAY Today is Custodial Appreciation Day (also known as National Custodial Worker’s Recognition Day) – we would like to thank our excellent custodial & grounds staff for their hard work and dedication to keep our school clean, safe and inviting. EAGLES WIN ON HOMECOMING Congratulations to our D-H Eagles Football team on their 49-0 win over the Dryden Lions on Friday! The offense was firing on all cylinders early, scoring on each of their drives in the first half to lead 36-0. Defensively, they made all the necessary stops, prohibiting Dryden from putting points on the board. This win moves Deposit-Hancock to 4-0 on the season, earning them a #12 ranking for Class D in New York State! We also had an excellent turn out for the homecoming parade before the game, thank you to everyone that made an appearance!! #DHNation

HOMECOMING QUEEN CROWNED Congratulations to Natalie Woodmansee on being selected as the Homecoming Queen at Friday night’s football game! We would like to congratulate the following girls on being nominated for queen as well! The homecoming queen nominations included Emmalee Watson, Sarah Gross and Makenzie Allen. NY THURSDAYS We had another successful NY Thursday’s lunch yesterday afternoon! The roast beef & cheese melts, as well as the salt potatoes, were a big hit with our students. “This was the best meal I’ve had at school” was stated by SEVERAL students when asked! Thank you to all our food service staff for another healthy and tasty meal!
