WINTER WALKING PROGRAM
Hancock Central School District will be offering their Winter Wellness Walking Program for area residents who wish to walk inside during the cold weather. On weekdays, the Hancock Central middle/high school building will be open for walkers from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on the second floor and third floor only.
The second-floor entrance by the Main Office will be used for entering and exiting the building, and there will be a sign-in/sign-out sheet inside the 2nd floor entrance. This program begins January 5, 2026 and ends May 1, 2026. The building will not be open for walking on days that school is closed.

We kept the spirit going on Thursday with “Naughty vs. Nice” Day! Students and staff had fun choosing their side and showing off festive outfits ranging from sweet and cheerful to mischievously merry.
Today is ‘Ugly Sweater’ day! From classic holiday designs to creative and cozy looks, the participation was fantastic and the smiles were everywhere.
As we begin our holiday break, we would like to wish all of our HCS families a safe, restful, and enjoyable time filled with moments of joy and togetherness.
Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming all of our students back to school on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Happy Holidays from all of us at HCS!

Mrs. Keller’s Home & Careers classes and Mrs. Wormuth’s Technology classes put their creativity to work while designing and building impressive gingerbread houses. Students combined planning, teamwork, and imagination to create festive structures that were as detailed as they were delicious.
Wonderful work by all of our students, these creations truly captured the holiday spirit!

Thank you to Mrs. Noyd and her assistant student carolers for stopping by classrooms to share Christmas songs and festive cheer! Your beautiful singing brought smiles to students and staff and helped make the day extra special.
We appreciate you spreading the holiday spirit throughout our school!
Dear families,
Beginning tonight into tomorrow, there are advisories for high winds and precipitation. Although the temperatures will be warm in the AM, they are expected to continue to drop throughout the day causing a wintry mix and potential icing on our hills. Instead of usual Friday dismissal, we will dismiss all students at 11:15 AM. Please call the main offices if you have any questions. We wish you a wonderful holiday and safe travels!

Holiday cheer was on full display in our Middle–High School yesterday for Holiday Accessories Day! From festive hats and jingle necklaces to reindeer antlers and holiday flair, our students and staff showed off their creativity and school spirit.
Great job, everyone, keep the spirit going!

Our holiday spirit week is still going strong, and yesterday was “Anything But a Backpack” Day in the Middle–High School!
We saw some very clever and creative backpack replacements throughout the building, way to think outside the (back)pack! Nice work, everyone, and thank you for bringing the holiday fun and school spirit!
Yesterday during Christmas Spirit Week, our middle school and high school students got cozy for “PJ Day” in the MS–HS building! From festive flannels to fun holiday prints, students and staff showed off their holiday spirit while staying comfy throughout the day.
We love seeing everyone get into the festive spirit, keep the cheer going!
Our Hancock Central School National Honor Society students, accompanied by Mrs. Rice and Ms. White, stopped by Father Rausch Hall to deliver gift baskets to local families.
We’re proud of our students for giving back and helping spread kindness throughout our community.

This past Friday, our staff came together for a festive holiday cookie exchange, filled with sweet treats and holiday cheer! The event also featured a fun “Nailed It!” Decorating Challenge, where staff were given plain cookies and decorating supplies and tasked with recreating a sample cookie.
Prizes were awarded for creativity, accuracy, and funniest fail attempts. Students were guest judges, while the cookie creators were kept anonymous to the students judging.
The ‘Actually Nailed It’/Closest match certificate went to Ms. White for creating a cookie that most closely matched the challenge design with impressive attention to detail, skill, and steady hands.
The ‘Most Creative’ certificate went to Mrs. Noyd, for demonstrating outstanding creativity, originality, and artistic flair, taking the challenge design and making it uniquely her own.
The ‘Funniest Fail’ certificate went to Mr. Bedient, for embracing the spirit of the challenge with humor, confidence, and a cookie that may not have gone as planned, but absolutely made us laugh!
It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season and share some laughs with colleagues!
Several of our 12th graders spent the weekend visiting Grand Canyon University (GCU)!
With beautiful weather, our seniors had the opportunity to tour the campus, learn more about academic programs, and get a firsthand look at college life. Grand Canyon University, located in Phoenix, Arizona, is known for its wide range of undergraduate programs, vibrant campus life, and strong sense of community.
We hope all of our students had a wonderful time and enjoyed their visit to the GCU campus. Thank you to Mrs. Skotch for sending us some pictures!

We are proud to recognize our Middle School and High School students for their outstanding achievements during the first quarter!

Samantha Harrington, Financial Education Officer for Sidney Federal Credit Union, visited HCS today to speak with our 12th graders about the importance of applying for scholarships, FAFSA, and grants. She encouraged students to pursue any trade or career path they choose and reminded them that financial success comes from being smart with their money.
Samantha also highlighted the scholarships offered by SFCU and emphasized that every scholarship, big or small, is worth applying for.
Thank you, Samantha, for coming in today and supporting our seniors!

Mrs. Keller’s HCS Foods classes have been busy in the kitchen!
Students in Basic Foods baked delicious madeleines using a special pan. These light, delicate cookies were flavored with orange and dipped in rich bittersweet chocolate. What a fun and tasty hands-on experience!
Meanwhile, students in Healthy Foods created a nutritious dessert featuring angel food cake. This classic treat is made from just egg whites, flour, and a bit of sugar (no butter), making it a lighter option that still tastes great.
Great job to all of Mrs. Keller’s young chefs!
