STUDENT OF THE WEEK, GOLD SLIP WINNER
Congratulations to this week’s student of the week at Hancock elementary, Elijah Fraser!
Elijah was chosen by Ms. Milk, as she stated, because, “He has grown tremendously in the last few years, is a great friend to his classmates and is always trying to do the right thing in class.” Wonderful job, Elijah!!

We were honored to welcome Randy and Cindy Whiting to today’s Morning Program! They spoke with our students about the importance of Memorial Day and took time to thank all those who have served our country.
Randy and Cindy also generously delivered copies of "The Impossible Patriotism Project" by Linda Skeers to our third-grade students and shared information about their “Legacy of Honor” essay contest, which is open to all students.

MS-HS CONCERT & ELEMENTARY ART SHOWCASE
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our Middle-High School End-of-Year Music Concert and Elementary Art Showcase! It was a wonderful evening celebrating the artistic talents of our students, and we couldn't be prouder.
Congratulations to all of our student performers and artists for doing an outstanding job sharing your talents with the HCS community!
A special shoutout to our seniors Vanessa Horton and Emmalee Watson on their final concert performance at HCS — thank you for your years of dedication and music!
And of course, a heartfelt thank you to Ms. Noyd and Mr. Massaro for your hard work, direction, and passion. You helped make the evening a true success!

NY THURSDAYS TOMORROW
Tomorrow, May 22nd, will be our final NY Thursdays meal of the school year. On the menu is: Italian sausage patty sandwich, pioneer potato salad, garden Salad, apple slices and milk!

EMPATHY AND KINDNESS
During today’s Morning Program, Mrs. Feeney spoke with our elementary students about the importance of empathy and kindness.
She explained what empathy means, offering several examples to help students understand how we can recognize and relate to others' feelings. She also talked about kindness, giving examples of actions that show care and compassion.
Students learned that empathy is about feeling with someone, while kindness is about taking action to help. Mrs. Feeney presented different scenarios and asked students to decide whether they were examples of empathy or kindness. Students then shared their own ideas about how they can show empathy and kindness to others.
Great job and participation, everyone!

IEP INFORMATIONAL ZOOM SESSION
The New York State Education Department’s Office of Special Education invites school-age families to a free informational Zoom session:

This zoom session will help you to gain a basic understanding of the Individualized Education Program (IEP), including:
- Roles and responsibilities of committee members
- Key components of the IEP
- The transition planning process
This is a great opportunity for families to learn more about how IEPs support student success!

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK
Since there was no Morning Program last week, we honored two students of the week at this week’s program. Congratulations first to Mia Cotza, who was selected by Mrs. Prescott! Ms. Milk, speaking on Mrs. Prescott’s behalf, stated that Mia was chosen because she is friendly, kind, responsible and hard working. Great job, Mia!
Our second student of the week was chosen by Mrs. Cooper, congratulations to Karliyah St. Hubert! Mrs. Cooper stated that Karliyah has grown so much and is a super hard worker in school. She is always participating in class and willing to help her teachers and classmates whenever she can.
Excellent work, Karliyah!
D-H Softball Hosts MAC Semifinal Tonight
Best of luck to our Deposit-Hancock Eagles Softball team as they face Oxford in the MAC Semifinals tonight at 4:30 p.m. in Deposit.
The top-seeded Lady Eagles (10-0 in MAC play, 14-2 overall) are currently ranked #1 in New York State Class C and will host #4-seeded Oxford for a chance to advance to the MAC Championship. The winner will take on the winner of the Greene vs. Bainbridge-Guilford matchup.
The MAC Championship is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, with the higher seed hosting.
Go Eagles—keep the momentum going!
