Turkeys were hiding out in 3rd grade this week!
Students disguised their turkeys and had to some math work on their feathers. Students had to work with facts of 6,7,8 & 9. They were asked to make equal groups, write equations, repeated addition, commutative property, draw arrays, and do some skip counting.
Great work, students!!

Hancock Central School is excited to welcome back Sander, a seven-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever, as our beloved furry staff member! Certified through Paws for Friendship and trained with Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Sander is here to bring comfort, support, and smiles to our students and staff.
Already enjoying stories from his Kindergarten friends, Sander is helping foster confidence, social-emotional well-being, and a positive school culture. We’re thrilled to have him as part of the HCS family!

These 3rd graders were caught by Mrs. Cooper doing "something" good!
Madeline Mootz, Cayson Barnhart, Natalia Tarbox, Elijah Fraser, Kendra Croci, Ezra Berlingeri, Emma Frost and Emalinne Davis have been doing a variety of good things over the last few weeks. Things like helping others, being good listeners, being productive learners and workers, and being good friends!
We are proud of these 3rd graders!!

Our UPK boys and girls had a fantastic time reading Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano! After enjoying the story, students created their very own turkeys using donuts, Froot Loops, and googly eyes. Their creativity and excitement made for a fun and festive activity!
Nice job, students!!

Students can earn a fish to add to the board when they go above and beyond everyday expectations.
Maja Noble was caught being good! She noticed a classmate without a partner and kindly offered to team up with him!
Great work, Maja!

As a part of our PBIS initiative in the elementary school, there is now a bulletin board that can visually recognize students that are 'caught being good.' Positive things happen at our school each day and students will have the opportunity earn a fish when they are caught doing something above and beyond basic expectations.
Our first 'catch' was Dawson Dufton from 4th grade, who helped a friend clean up a mess in the cafeteria without being asked. Great job, Dawson!
Who will be the next one caught? 🎣

Hancock Central School is pleased to recognize National School Psychologist Appreciation Week, which takes place from 11/3-11/7/25.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Ms. Jennifer Royce, our dedicated school psychologist at HCS. Ms. Royce’s professionalism, compassion, and commitment play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students.
Her efforts help foster a safe, supportive, and thriving learning environment for all. We thank Ms. Royce for her invaluable service and continued dedication to the HCS community.

Our 3rd graders had an amazing time celebrating Halloween! Students created beautiful watercolor pumpkins, made Halloween wreaths, and even worked on some spooky math activities. Thanks to our wonderful parents, there were also lots of yummy snacks to enjoy!
And of course… a little friendly teacher 6~7 fun added to the excitement!
Special thanks to Mrs. Cooper for sharing these great moments from the day!

Ms. Kellam’s 4th grade art students have been hard at work learning about warm and cool colors and experimenting with two ways to create color gradients using each!
To showcase their new skills, and the spirit of Fall at HCS, they created vibrant scenes featuring cauldrons, pumpkins, bats, and trees.
Students focused on artistic processes and the elements of art, while adding plenty of their own creative flair to make each piece unique. Great job, Wildcats!
