PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES This is a busy time of year, with only 17 instructional days in November and the afternoon of November 25th set aside for parent-teacher conferences! These conferences are a valuable opportunity to connect, discuss progress, and plan for continued growth and success. Our students put on a heartfelt performance to express their gratitude, and we enjoyed connecting with our heroes over refreshments and snacks in the library afterward. STUDENT OF THE WEEK Congratulations to the student of the week at Hancock Elementary for this week, Maja Noble! Maja was chosen by Mrs. Noyd because of her excitement and hard work in music class. Mrs. Noyd mentioned that Maja is very focused and listens to music very closely while in class. Great work, Maja. Congratulations!! #WeAreHCS

Hancock Central School will be having a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. This meal is free to all Senior Citizens, Hancock Rotary, Veteran’s, and Retirees of the Hancock Central School district and will be held in the MS/HS cafeteria. If you are interested in attending, please call 607-637-1324 by November 18, 2024 for a reservation. Thank you!

MORNING PROGRAM Thank you all for stopping by Morning Program earlier today. We celebrated one birthday this week, happy birthday to Bentley Wignall! Thank you to Mrs. Hull and Sander for leading an informative program for our students, as they learned that today is election day. We also talked about next week’s Morning Program, where our boys and girls will have a special presentation for all our veterans in celebration of Veterans Day. We hope to see you next week!

A WONDERFUL HALLOWEEN It was a beautiful and festive Halloween, yesterday! We want to thank everyone who participated, watched the parades, gave out candy, dressed in costume and made it a wonderful day for our boys and girls!! ELEMENTARY PARADE & MIDDLE SCHOOL PARTY It was a BEAUTIFUL afternoon for our elementary students to show off their costumes, while our middle schoolers had some fun in the gym! UPK-K Students Visit Middle-High School We got to see our UPK and Kindergarten students in full costume this morning as they stopped in the middle-high school for some trick-or-treating! You all looked AMAZING in your costumes, we will see you later! Happy Halloween!!

PUMPKIN MATH Ms. Milk’s second graders have been working hard with pumpkin math this week! The students had a great time taking many different measurements of their pumpkins. Once they measured their pumpkins stem, circumference, weight, and counted ridges and seeds, they were able to carve their pumpkins! What a great Halloween activity, Happy Halloween everyone!

BIRTHDAYS, GOLD SLIP WINNERS AT MORNING PROGRAM At yesterday’s Morning Program, we spoke with the students about Halloween safety, in preparation for some trick or treating tomorrow evening! We also celebrated two birthdays and had two gold slip winners choose their prizes! Happiest of birthdays go out to Harper Bartholomew and Jaxson Tomlin, we hope you each have the best day!! Our student of the week, Noah Drake, selected this week’s gold slip winner, Jade Morgan. She is pictured with Emalinne Davis, who was absent when she was selected as gold slip winner last time. Congratulations to you both, keep on getting those gold slips in, boys and girls!! 😊 #WeAreHCS

STUDENT OF THE WEEK Congratulations to this week’s student of the week at Hancock Elementary, Noah Drake!! Noah was chosen by Mrs. Robinson because he comes to school every day with a positive attitude, ready to learn. Mrs. Robinson noted that Noah is a hard worker in the classroom and follows instruction very well. Excellent work and congratulations, Noah! #WeAreHCS

BANANA PHONES IN ELEMENTARY Thank you to Mrs. D’Elia for sending in pictures of our Elementary students at lunch! Several of them decided to utilize their banana phones today!! 😊 😂

MRS. ASQUITH READS WITH UPK STUDENTS We want to thank Mrs. Asquith for stopping in and reading to our UPK students earlier today! ‘There’s a Ghost In This House’, by Oliver Jeffers, was read aloud to our boys and girls, with a discussion about the story afterwards. After they talked about the story, the students participated in a short experiment. The boys and girls designed mini ghosts, which were put into a solution of vinegar and baking soda. Our UPK kiddos got to observe the ghosts rising and sinking above and below the surface several times, mimicking the ghosts in the story. Great work, students!

HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS 🎃👻 Halloween is almost here in Hancock! Join us on Thursday, October 31, 2024, for a fun-filled evening. The Halloween Parade kicks off at 5:00 p.m., with lineup starting at 4:45 p.m. in front of the Middle-High School building. Following the parade, head over to the Elementary School parking lot for Trunk or Treat, sponsored by The Hancock Community Education Foundation! 🛡️ Here are some safety tips to keep in mind: • Stay visible with reflective gear or flashlights. • Always travel in groups or with an adult. • Check your treats before enjoying them. • Use sidewalks and crosswalks to stay safe. October is National Bullying Prevention Month! At Hancock Central School, we’re taking this time to spread awareness and promote kindness. It’s important to understand the difference between being mean and bullying: 🔹 Being Mean usually happens once or twice and might involve unkind words or actions that hurt someone’s feelings. It can happen without the intention to cause harm. 🔹 Bullying is repeated behavior that’s meant to intentionally hurt, harm, or control someone. It’s ongoing, and the person doing it has more power (physically, socially, or emotionally) over the person being targeted. 💡 What Can You Do? • Speak Up! If you see something that doesn’t feel right, let someone know. • Show Kindness! A small act of kindness can make a big difference. • Be Supportive! Stand up for your peers and promote a safe and welcoming environment.
