Hancock Central School building (6/2020)

The Hancock Central School District’s 2020-2021 Budget passed by a 352-135 vote Tuesday night, and Board of Education President Terry Whitt was re-elected to serve a 3-year term ending June 30, 2023.

“Our community’s continued support of this school district is so important and deeply appreciated, not only by the Board of Education, myself and our staff, but by the students – especially in the face of the significant challenges posed by COVID-19,” HCSD Superintendent Terry Dougherty said. “We are sincerely humbled and grateful for the trust we have earned.”

In addition to passing the District’s $11,671,074 proposed budget, HCSD voters also passed the $86,172 proposed budget for the Louise Adelia Read Memorial Public Library, 399-87.

Additionally, Margaret Hall earned one 5-year term (ending June 30, 2025) as Trustee of the Louise Adelia Memorial Library Board. Whitt and Hall ran unopposed.

All voting took place via absentee ballots because of the COVID-19 pandemic, as per state orders.
