Honor students earn top 10 finish
Hancock students pose at academic competition

National Honor Society students from the Hancock Central School District competed in the Catskill Area School Study Council’s Upstate Academic Challenge on Tuesday (January 7) at SUNY Oneonta.

Pictured from left to right, Lily Ogozalek, Kelsey Young, Alexis Bennett, Catherine Bennett, Emmi Rubera, Roger Newman, Brenna Gleim and Michael Makowski represented Hancock in the Small School Competition. The division also featured teams from Andes, Cherry Valley-Springfield, Cooperstown, Elmira Notre Dame, Greene, Laurens, Seton Catholic, South Kortright and Unadilla Valley.

Accompanied by adviser Kristy White, our Wildcats opened with a 225-105 victory over Cooperstown but followed with losses to Laurens (135-85) and South Kortright (145-90). Hancock amassed enough points for a possible quarterfinal berth but ultimately fell one spot shy of advancing, placing ninth out of 16 teams.
