Hancock celebrates reading

The Hancock Central School District held special events Friday in honor of Read Across America Day on Friday and Dr. Seuss' birthday Saturday.

Director of Pupil Personnel Julie Bergman read Dr. Seuss’ “Happy Birthday to You!” during an afternoon program Friday at Hancock Elementary School.

Second-graders got into the spirit by making green eggs and ham and The Cat in the Hat cookies with Hancock Middle School sixth-graders. They also relaxed during “lazy with a book day” and listened to classmates share their favorite Dr. Seuss books. Middle and elementary students connected with Reading Buddies, too, as fifth-graders read Dr. Seuss books to first-graders Friday.

Hancock continues the celebration this week with Dr. Seuss-themed days Monday through Friday. Check out our Facebook page for more information and photos.
