Newman is the YES LEADer of the 'Cats
Hancock student Roger Newman 2019

Congratulations to Hancock High School junior Roger Newman III, who earned recognition from YES Safe Choices as its YES LEADer of the Month for May.

YES Safe Choices announced Roger’s selection on its website. It reads, in part: “Over the past two years, Roger has stood out as a YES LEADer in his group. His enthusiasm to help others and his commitment to living a drug- and alcohol-free life makes him a positive role model in his school and his community.”

Seventeen schools participate in YES Safe Choice’s youth leadership training program, YES LEADS, which teaches students about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. Hancock advisor Meghan Smith said Roger emerged as this month’s YES LEADer for several reasons.

“In his two years as a YES LEADer, Roger has been a positive role model for his school and community,” she said. “Roger is quick to volunteer for his class, YES Leads, National Honor Society and Student Council. He is a well-rounded student who understands the importance of living a drug- and alcohol-free life.”

Great job, Roger!
