STATE TITLE SWEEP!
State champion softball and baseball teams (6/2022)

Congratulations to our Deposit-Hancock baseball AND softball teams for sweeping the Class D state championships June 11! The Eagles are the fourth Class D program to win baseball and softball New York State Public High School Athletic Association titles in the same season.

Our Section IV and Midstate Athletic Conference champion Eagles baseball team capped a 23-0 season with a 14-5 rout of Section IX’s Chapel Field at Binghamton University. The title win followed a 15-0 state-semifinal drubbing of Section VII’s Crown Point on June 10 at SUNY Broome.

The D-H Eagles have won two state baseball championships as a combined program. The first came in 2018 – their inaugural season as a merged program – at Binghamton University.

Our Section IV champion Eagles softball team closed a 17-6 season with an 8-1 triumph over Section III’s Oriskany on June 11 at Long Island’s Moriches Athletic Complex. The title win followed a 7-2 state-semifinal defeat of Section V’s Scio/Friendship earlier that day.

Winners of the Joan Pfeiffer Sportsmanship Award, the D-H Eagles earned their first state softball title as a combined program. Deposit had won six other state crowns before merging with Hancock, with its most recent coming in Class D in 2019. COVID-19 canceled the 2020 and 2021 state tournaments.

Note: Chapel Field (2008), Livingston Manor (2011) and Fort Ann (2013) also won both state titles in the same season.
