Elementary School Cleared For Normal Occupancy Following Sanitary Line Backup
Following a sanitary line backup in the Elementary School Building, a cleanup and inspection was completed with the recommendation that normal occupancy of the building continue moving forward.

More information on the blockage and inspection can be found in the following message from Hulbert Engineering and Land Surveying, DPC President Gene Hulbert Jr., PE.

"Mr. Dougherty,

Following up on your January 6th request, I performed a site inspection at 9:30 AM today at the Hancock CSD Elementary School with Jodi Newman, Thomas Durkot, and John Mauro to review the conditions after the cleanup of the sanitary line backup was completed.  Our complete report will be transmitted in a separate correspondence.

In summary, the ceramic floor surfaces that had direct contact with the sanitary backup were contained to an area of approximately 4 SF around each of the floor drains.  After the blockage was repaired on January 6th, the floor tile was cleaned and then disinfected with a water / chlorine bleach solution.

As a result of my observations during the inspection, it is my determination that the building has been cleaned and disinfected in accordance with guidelines issued by NYSED and local health officials. It is our recommendation to allow normal occupancy of the building effective immediately.

Please reach out to me to address any questions you may have regarding this issue.

Respectfully,
Gene Hulbert Jr., PE
