Pumpkin Math is a treat!

Sixth-graders with pumpkins 2019

Hancock sixth-graders got into the Halloween spirit Tuesday with Pumpkin Math.

Students brought pumpkins to school for this interactive lesson, first charting information in standard and metric units for weight, diameter and circumference. They also counted/recorded the vertical lines on their respective pumpkins, then gutted and carved them.

The class pumpkins produced a total of 9,301 seeds and some very unique designs. As an added bonus, Gloria White will be roasting the pumpkin seeds for the kids!
