Congratulations to Hancock senior Kelsey Young for winning the Class D girls championship during Thursday’s Section 4 Championships at Chenango Valley State Park.
Representing Deposit/Hancock, Kelsey completed the 5-kilometer course in 20 minutes, 17.4 seconds to beat runner-up Alyssa Walker, an Elmira Notre Dame senior, by nearly 12 seconds for the Class D sectional crown. Kelsey qualified to compete in the State Championships, which will start at 9 a.m. November 16 at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Junior teammate Madison Dawson placed 35th (27:36.6) during the Section 4 Championships. Freshman Aidan Aldridge paced the Eagles’ boys, taking 24th in 19:43.6. Senior Ben Parkison (66, 23:30.6), sophomore Hector Rodriguez (68, 23:46.1) and freshman Sam Parkison (75, 25:24.4) also represented the D/H boys.
