Beamer returns to Hancock as administrator

Cadosia resident Jackie Beamer returns to the Hancock Central School District as its Director of Pupil Personnel and CSE/CPSE Chairperson for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The former K-2 special education teacher follows Julie Bergman, who will serve Hancock as its PK-12 Principal this school year. Bergman replaces Deborah Darling, who accepted a position as high school assistant principal at the Union-Endicott Central School District.

Jackie graduated from Binghamton University in December of 2017 with a Certificate of Advanced Studies and became the Monticello Central School District’s Supervisor of Special Programs in January of 2018. Jackie often connected with Monticello families and community members through special programming and event planning such as the No Place for Hate Program at Monticello High School and Rachel’s Challenge at RJK Middle School. She also was responsible for the social and emotional wellness of students and staff.

Working closer to home in a similar capacity brought Jackie back to Hancock, where she spent nearly a decade after landing a job as an elementary school special education teacher in September of 2007. Jackie enrolled at BU in 2016 to pursue her administration certificate and fulfilled the requirements while continuing to work as a K-2 special educator. Her training included a six-month administrative internship under the direction of HCSD Superintendent Terry Dougherty and resulted in NYS dual certification as a School Building Leader and School District Leader.

Before starting her career as an assistant teacher in the early 2000s, Jackie earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cortland and a master’s degree in education from Mount Saint Mary College, with permanent NYS dual certification in elementary (PK-6) and special education (K-12). She also spent two years as a secondary special education teacher before joining HCSD in 2007.

Jackie’s office is located at Hancock Elementary School, but she’ll also spend time at the CSE office inside the Middle School/High School building.
