Graduation Day: Hancock honors Class of 2019!

Congratulations to Hancock High School’s Class of 2019!

The Hancock Central School District honored its senior class one last time Friday night, June 28, as the 2018-2019 academic year officially closed with the 2019 Graduation Ceremony at the Hancock Middle School/High School Auditorium.

The Hancock Central Schools Band performed “Pomp and Circumstance” as 25 seniors made their way to the stage during the 131st Commencement. The ceremony featured speeches by Valedictorian Riley Ostrander and Salutatorian Erin Evanitsky, the Presentation of Senior Awards by Principal Deborah Darling, and the Presentation of Diplomas by Board of Education President Terry Whitt and Superintendent Terrance P. Dougherty. 

Thomas Schoonmaker received special recognition as the first Hancock student to earn a college degree while completing the requirements for a high school diploma. Thomas followed Hancock’s Pathway to a College Degree program for an associate’s degree from Tompkins Cortland Community College.

The Hancock Community Education Foundation awarded a total of $51,550 in scholarships to this year’s graduates, bringing its total to $1,020,350 since 2000.

Hancock High School’s 2019 graduates are Cameron Barringer, Cullen Bojo, Ryan Callan, Garrett Chirico, Trinity Crawson, Erin Evanitsky, Nina Gamboni, Camryn Hazen, Mason Karcher, Autumn Kellam, Spencer Layman, Tomas Letosky, Makenna Loucks, Parker MacDowall, Cole Newman, Riley Ostrander, Samuel Parker, Lucas Resti, Mariah Rosengrant, Thomas Schoonmaker, Josiah Simmons, Katherine Smith, Owen Wormuth, Danyel Worobey and Haylee Zartman.
