'Cat Resurgence: Five days in person starts Monday for G7-12

’CAT RESURGENCE | April 8, 2021
Hancock Central School District students in Grades 7-12 will return to in-person instruction five days a week starting Monday, April 12, Superintendent Terry Dougherty announced Thursday.

Students in classThe return of Grades 7-12 to five-days-per-week instruction on campus successfully completes the ’Cat Resurgence, a coordinated, District-led planning initiative designed to increase in-person learning opportunities for all of our PK-12 students.

Hancock’s Board of Education unanimously approved the ’Cat Resurgence on February 8. Students in Grades PK-6 returned to the traditional in-person, five-day school week on February 16. A week later, Grades 7-12 started a four-day in-person schedule, with one remote day to allow for deep cleaning at Hancock MS/HS.

In-person students are expected to be in attendance five days a week for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year, with the exception of designated holidays/emergency days. All COVID-19 protocols and procedures will be followed during in-person instruction (i.e. face coverings, social distancing, student entry tickets, desk shields, handwashing, etc.). The in-person learning schedule is subject to change, pending COVID-19 guidance from Delaware County Public Health.

Those who have opted out of in-person instruction for the rest of the school year will continue to learn remotely but may reconsider their decision starting Monday.

HCSD thanks all of our internal and external stakeholders – including the Board of Education, teachers, students, parents, caretakers, administrators, and governmental and social-service agencies – for making the ’Cat Resurgence possible.
