Congratulations to Hancock senior Michael Makowski Jr. and mentor Matt Davis, who were honored Wednesday night (May 12) during the 2021 Business and Education Partnership Scholar Recognition ceremony!

Michael is president of the National Honor Society and serves as treasurer of Student Council and Spanish Club. The 2021 Akshar All-Star and Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award winner also plays varsity baseball and played varsity basketball, football and golf. He plans to study Civil Engineering in college.

Michael wrote the following mentor nomination: "I picked Mr. Davis as my representative because he has been a role model to me over the past two years. Mr. Davis has demonstrated respect, hard work and a positive attitude, all traits that I believe are very important. He has also helped me mature over time with him as my teacher. He has been nothing but helpful through my junior and senior years of high school. Mr. Davis has also pushed me to do the best in all things that I do, from sports to school to life in general."

Students and teachers in the DCMO and ONC BOCES supervisory areas were recognized for excellence during a YouTube presentation that featured live, remote look-ins with each pair of award recipients. The event was co-sponsored by DCMO BOCES and SUNY Oneonta.
